On Thursday 22 June 2023, GALATEA project won the WestMED Award in the “Sustainable Consumption and Production” category at the 2023 WestMED stakeholders’ conference in Malta.
The WestMED initiative aims to encourage cooperation between public and private players on both coasts of the western Mediterranean, particularly in the context of local and regional maritime projects. The 2023 edition of the WestMED conference in Malta aimed to showcase projects offering innovative and replicable solutions in line with the values of the initiative. By supporting no less than 23 innovative projects led by 42 companies in the fields of smart ports, smart ships, smart shipyards and maritime surveillance, the GALATEA blue growth accelerator project has been awarded the prize in the “Sustainable consumption and production” category. Its innovation support mechanism is designed to be replicated by other Mediterranean countries and their maritime clusters. The simplicity of such a scheme and the proximity it represents for local SMEs are assets for local implementation.
